A new four-storey building is being planned at Hull Royal Infirmary, according to proposals submitted to Hull City Council.
The building would be built next to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital facing Anlaby Road and house a discharge lounge and wellbeing suite, along with other facilities.
The site is near a Grade-II listed statue of Dr John Alderson – a physician at the original infirmary in the 1790s – and this would remain untouched, proposals say.
The new proposal follows the recent announcement that NHS Humber Health Partnership plan to alter the cladding on the main building at the hospital.
Work will be undertaken to ensure the building complies with new fire safety regulations that came into place following Grenfell Tower Disaster.
