Both lanes of the A64 between the A1039 (Staxton) and the B1261 (Seamer) are closed this morning, following an accident.

Five to six police vehicles and two ambulances are at the scene, with a police cordon.

Traffic is at a standstill as North Yorkshire Police confirm that the closure will remain in place for several hours while the investigation is completed.

Road users are advised to take an alternative route to their destination, divert onto the A1039 eastbound then join the A165 northbound into Scarborough before rejoining the A64.
