A 67-year-old man, believed to have been walking a dog, died after a collision with a Peugeot on the A64 around the outskirts of Scarborough at 6:39am this morning.
The man is reported to have died at the scene, with his dog unharmed.
A woman in her 20s from Bridlington, who was driving the Peugeot 208 car, is assisting officers with their investigation.
The incident occurred between the Staxton roundabout (A1039) and the Seamer roundabout (B1261), causing traffic to be closed in both directions until it was reopened at 2:30pm today.
